Accelerating Trust with Linkedin

Your linkedin is a tool for building trust.

Accelerating Trust

I know that you’re already selling. You’re at networking events and you have your website set up. Someone has already made the decision to buy from you, but now they are checking LinkedIn. You haven’t updated it in a while, it doesn’t have your job history along with no recommendations so it doesn’t move the needle forward from getting someone from buy to an EXCITED BUYER. I want you to have the privilege of working with someone where’s there’s trust and alignment. Here are some steps to more easily build that trust:

Your Job History

This seems pretty obvious, but I see entrepreneurs miss this step. Your easiest and most important first step is to make a company page for your business. It is easy for you to make a company page and add yourself as an employee along with others that work for you. It is one easy way to make your role "real" and easy marketing as you meet people. Along with adding your business, you can add past positions which will help you build trust because people can begin to see how you gained the experience to get to where you are now.

Recommendations

Your recommendations is a powerful section for building out trust with potential customers. It's very simple - You can make a request from pervious people your worked with. I try and get a new recommendation every quarter if possible. Setting a target for yourself can help give you a target and set you up for success as people find you.

Skills

This is a pretty low stakes exercise. Similar to recommendations you can have people endorse you for the skills but I recommend using the skills as a way to track the things that you're learning. I often refresh my skills and re-organize which ones are prioritized towards the top because it helps me acknowledge what I'm learning and when I'm adding and what doesn't necessarily fit. Similar to spring cleaning you want to do an audit of your skills every now and again so you can understand what is a priority in terms of what you're currently selling versus what is some thing that used to be important, but isn't as important for what you're doing now.
